And here we are, V. E. Schwab did it again! Created another perfection! It was dark, bloody, violent and absolutely beautiful. August and Kate both so different, so broken and so loveable. Loved how they worked together, without ending up being lovesick puppies. Truly, it wasn't even a bit of romance in a storyline and I haven't missed it a bit. The story captured me from the start, and than I literally couldn't put the book down, basically just inhaled it.

Our Dark Duet

So we are 6 months after TSS... Kate is playing a little "monster hunter" in a new city, ignoring what she left behind, whilst August running an army as did before Leo, and slowly losing himself in progress... The story went pretty slow a while ( and than everything exploded in the last 100 pages) but a new monster came to give us a little twist, what makes Kate return in Verity... And that when the shit just got real.
This book was pretty dark, even the ending, and I loved every bit of it. Well most of it to be exact. (My heart is broke for Ilsa💔).
My only issue was with the side characters. Schwab created great new faces and stories to explore. Kate's Wardens, August's Night Squad, Soro... And than she just abandoned them all... So much potential, and they just got forgotten. The whole plot was basically about that new monster, and in the end we know literally nothing about that either. The story was so focused on the only two characters, that it's shadowed everything else. Don't get me wrong, I lover August and Kate, and enjoyed their nail biting journey, but I would like to get some more Ilsa... or Riley... or some back story about Soro.
